About the job:
Kent is looking for a Lead E&I QA/QC Inspector at Kearl. This role is responsible for leading Electrical & Instrumentation inspection activities and overseeing quality assurance processes to ensure that construction, installation, testing, and commissioning comply with project specifications, client requirements, applicable codes, and quality standards, supporting successful project execution. Working closely with Construction, Commissioning, QA/QC, Engineering, and Operations teams, the Lead E&I QA/QC Inspector plays a key role in driving quality compliance, leading inspection processes, managing deficiencies and corrective actions, mentoring inspection personnel, and ensuring work is completed in accordance with project requirements. The role requires advanced technical knowledge, strong leadership capability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced construction environment.

Skills and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:

Inspection & Quality Assurance Leadership
• Lead Electrical & Instrumentation inspections in support of construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities.
• Provide oversight to ensure work complies with project specifications, drawings, client requirements, quality standards, and applicable codes.
• Lead inspections on cable installations, terminations, grounding systems, instrumentation devices, control panels, and associated E&I systems.
• Drive implementation and compliance with inspection test plans (ITPs), procedures, and quality documentation requirements.
• Identify deficiencies, non-conformances, punch items, and lead corrective action resolution activities.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical support to inspection personnel and project teams to ensure consistent quality execution.

Construction & Commissioning Coordination
• Work closely with Construction and Commissioning teams to establish inspection priorities and support upcoming project requirements.
• Lead turnover and commissioning activities through verification of completed work and oversight of inspection documentation.
• Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, Construction, and Operations teams regarding inspection findings, quality risks, and compliance requirements.
• Lead resolution efforts for quality issues impacting project execution and schedule.
• Support project readiness activities while maintaining visibility of inspection status, risks, and mitigation actions.
• Act as a key quality resource for project stakeholders and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Documentation & Reporting
• Oversee accurate inspection records, quality documentation, and reporting within project systems.
• Prepare and review inspection reports, quality updates, deficiency logs, and turnover documentation as required.
• Monitor and drive closure of outstanding deficiencies and corrective actions.
• Support project close-out documentation and quality reporting requirements.
• Ensure compliance with project quality processes, procedures, and documentation standards.
• Provide regular updates to project leadership on quality performance, risks, and trends.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge, skills, education, and experience:
Knowledge/Qualification/Training/Certification:
• Technical training or post-secondary education in Electrical, Instrumentation, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field is considered an asset.
• Red Seal Electrician registered in Alberta, with 10+ years of experience in E&I QA/QC inspection, QA/QC leadership, commissioning support, or construction quality within industrial, energy, telecommunications, EPC, or oil & gas environments preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading inspection processes including:
• Electrical installation inspections
• Instrumentation inspections and verification
• Quality assurance / quality control procedures
• Turnover and commissioning support
• Deficiency tracking and corrective action management
• Team leadership, mentorship, and quality oversight
• Experience supporting industrial, energy, oil & gas, telecommunications, or large construction projects is considered an asset.
• Strong familiarity with applicable codes, standards, inspection procedures, and quality documentation requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and reporting tools is preferred.
• Experience with project management systems, quality tracking tools, and ERP systems is considered an asset.
• Previous experience in a Lead, Senior, or supervisory QA/QC inspection role is preferred.

Communication
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to effectively coordinate with Construction, Commissioning, Engineering, Operations, and QA/QC teams across multiple disciplines and levels.
• Comfortable operating within fast-paced, site-based construction environments.
• Ability to communicate inspection findings, risks, and recommendations to project leadership and stakeholders.
