Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Maintain and ensure compliance with the HSSE Management system on the Project in line with Legal,
client and Kent requirements.
• Provide support and guidance on effective HSSE risk management on the project.
• Ensure Project specific HSSE legal requirements are identified, evaluated, and communicated.
• Develop an effective HSSE plan for the project to ensure compliance with HSSE requirements.
• Establish leading and lagging indicators for the project and monitor the performance regularly.
• Develop and monitor implementation of waste management plan and ensure waste disposal log is
maintained.
• Develop and implement emergency response preparedness plan and practice drills for identified
potential emergency situations.
• Develop adequate and specific Project HSSE Procedures where required.
• Ensure effective management review of the project HSSE management system.
• Establish and maintain the assurance process to ensure effective monitoring of every aspect of the
HSSE Management system. Perform trend analysis and communicate findings.
• Monitor involvement of project management team and supervision in the HSSE Program.
• Conduct internal audits to assure compliance with the HSSE Management system and the international
standards. (ISO 14001, 45001).
• Monitoring the implementation of an effective inspection procedures to ensure proper and timely
inspection, testing and color-coding is performed in accordance with the project inspection matrix.
• Ensure an effective HSSE Communications and consultation.
• Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated in a timely manner on the incident reporting
portal
•Ensure investigations are comprehensively undertaken with effective RCA and sufficient corrective
actions to prevent recurrence.
• Validating the effectiveness closeout of corrective actions in a timely manner.
• Develop a comprehensive and accurate monthly report on the project HSSE performance and provide the
report to the Project Manager and the Regional HSSE Director.
• Develop, maintain, and deliver an effective HSSE training plan for the project.
• Monitor the effectiveness of the HSSE training program and include the findings in the monthly reports.
• Design and resource an effective HSSE organization structure.
• Support the continual professional development of the HSSE team.
• Manage the performance of the HSSE team.
• Ensure work area environment is maintained safe through the pro-active enforcement of HSSE rules and regulations.
•Consult with project management to ensure good, safe and healthy work atmosphere.
•Advice / guide project management on selection, maintenance, and inventory of personal protective equipment.
Qualification/ Certification:
NEBOSH Diploma, Bachelor’s degree or NQF/NVQ level 4-6 certificate. Plus 8 to 10-year experience.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• An assertive proactive self-starter with a record of accomplishment as a successful leader
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead a team
• Ability to build positive and productive relationships with diverse groups of people; thrives in
a collaborative and challenging team environment.
• Solid planning, organizing and negotiating skills; can manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and
respond to changing priorities
• Must have Investigation skills and understand RCA, and must have report writing skills
• Must be able to identify trends through data analysis.
Communication:
External - Client Representatives, Sub-contractor’s Representatives, legal authorities visiting sites.
Internal - Project Manager, Site Manager, Sub-ordinates and other department managers / heads on project site.
You will directly report to the respective project manager and have a functional reporting line to
the Regional HSSE Business Partner.
Core Competencies:
As the project HSSE Manager you will have the following core competencies.
• Knowledge and a good understanding of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001
• Detailed knowledge of local legislative requirements
• Trained internal auditor and must have knowledge of internal / external auditing process.
• Understand the principals of risk management/HIRA
• You will understand Incident Root Cause Analysis and display knowledge and experience in this field.
• Understanding of conducting training needs analysis.
• Understanding of OSHA incident classification criteria.
