About the job:

Kent is looking for an experienced E&I CSU Superintendent in Trinidad to oversee the Electrical and Instrumentation commissioning activities for Oil & Gas Commissioning and Startup opportunities, ensuring professional execution, team coordination, and compliance with safety and procedural standards.

Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Actively demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE), ensuring that safety culture and expectations are effectively communicated and maintained among team members and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and review System Commissioning Procedures (SCPs), Functional Testing Procedures (FTPs) and other stand-alone procedures for and ensuring alignment with industry standards, project requirements, and safety protocols.
  • Prepare and review Commissioning and Start-up (CSU) Work Packs, Risk Assessments (L2RAs), and documentation for the safe execution of work.
  • Prepare, review and update as necessary the Limits of System Handover (LOSH) for CSU Systemization and work execution.
  • Assist with managing the CSU readiness activities for efficient preparation and mobilization to site for field execution.
  • Oversee and coordinate field E&I commissioning technicians, providing guidance, supervision, and support during the execution of tasks
  • Manage daily commissioning activities, including monitoring progress, resolving issues, and reporting on key metrics.
  • Testing and commissioning of Low Voltage (LV) & High Voltage (HV) electrical systems, including distribution boards, motor control centers, motors, trace heating systems, and associated circuits.
  • Supervise the testing of Instrumentation systems such as transmitters, analyzers, distributed control systems (DCS), and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
  • Supervise and validate the elements of CSU testing of Performance Standards, Technical Integrity Verification, Functional Safety Assessment (FSA) to maintain the facility quality and integrity during CSU stages.
  • Evaluate and ensure the successful completion of pre-commissioning check sheets and system handovers, adhering to the Mechanical Completion and Commissioning Management Process.
  • Perform or supervise tri-party mechanical completion & system handover walkdowns, categorization of punch items, and tracking of issue resolution.
  • Assist with the preparation and execution of Livening-Up Notices for subsystem or system energization in alignment with applicable processes.
  • Assist with schedule preparation, management and progress reporting for the CSU program.
  • Act as or oversee the Authorized Electrical Person (AEP) for voltage levels less than 1000V AC following assessment and approval.
  • Ensure adherence to the Permit To Work (PTW) process during commissioning activities.
  • Assist with defining Vendor and subcontractor Scope of Works (SOWs) for CSU activities.
  • Support and collaborate with vendors, escorting and coordinating with them as necessary for system commissioning activities.
  • Provide mentoring and technical training to field technicians to develop their expertise in commissioning tasks and safety protocols.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • A recognized Technical Certification, Vocation College Certificate, or Engineering Degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Proven track record of 5+ years’ experience in commissioning Electrical and Instrumentation systems in the Oil & Gas sector.

Communication:

Full fluency in English is required.
