About the job:

Kent is looking for an Instrument and Electrical Construction Manager to be based in Cameron, LA.

You will be responsible for leading all field construction activities related to instrumentation, electrical demolition, relocation, installation, and startup work in an industrial facility.

You will manage the safe execution of electrical equipment demolition, facilities siting, migration of electrical and DCS systems, and installation of new electrical equipment and gear into a new control room. You will coordinate contractors, schedules, permitting, quality control, and turnover activities to ensure the project is completed safely, on time, and in accordance with design requirements and operational standards.

This position requires regular presence in the field and may involve work in active industrial environments, construction areas, and control room transition projects. You may be exposed to rotating schedules, shutdown windows, and contractor coordination during high-activity phases.

Skills and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate all instrument and electrical construction activities for demolition, relocation, and new installation scopes.
  • Oversee demolition of existing electrical equipment, panels, cabling, conduits, instruments, and associated systems in accordance with site safety and environmental requirements.
  • Plan and manage facility siting activities, including coordination of equipment layout, access, utility tie-ins, temporary facilities and construction sequencing.
  • Direct migration of electrical equipment, instrumentation, PLC/DCS hardware, network components, and associated control systems from existing areas to the new control room.
  • Supervise installation of new electrical equipment, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, panels, cable tray, conduit, grounding, and instrumentation systems.
  • Coordinate control room cutover activities, including commissioning support, loop checks, functional testing, and startup planning.
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, maintenance, and vendors to resolve field issues and maintain project alignment.
  • Review drawings, specifications, one-lines, P&IDs, control narratives, and installation details for constructability and field execution.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage contractor performance, including schedule tracking, progress reporting, productivity, safety compliance, and quality assurance.
  • Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and turnover documentation for new and relocated systems.
  • Identify and mitigate construction risks, operational impacts, and tie-in conflicts during execution.
  • Maintain accurate field records, redlines, punch lists, as-builts, and closeout documentation.
  • Perform Constructability Reviews as required.
  • Provide coordination and planning for the facilities site plan and lead related discussions/meetings.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Construction Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent field experience.
  • Control Room facility migration experience preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in industrial electrical and instrumentation construction, including heavy industrial or process facility projects.
  • Proven experience with electrical demolition, equipment relocation, DCS migration, and control room cutover projects.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, controls, cabling, grounding, and equipment installation.
  • Experience managing contractors and coordinating multi-discipline construction work.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, startup, loop checks, and turnover processes.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and other applicable safety and electrical standards.
  • Prior work in refinery, petrochemical, power, manufacturing, or similar industrial facilities preferred.
  • Experience with DCS, PLC, SCADA, and control room infrastructure migrations preferred.
  • Familiarity with brownfield construction and tie-in execution in operating facilities preferred.
  • Experience with outage planning, shutdown coordination, and energization procedures preferred.

Communication:

  • Excellent verbal, written and listening skills required.
