Commissioning & Start-up Services on a Landmark Kazakhstan Energy Development

Kent successfully delivered a multi-discipline commissioning and start-up programme on one of the world’s most significant onshore energy developments, located in Western Kazakhstan. Over a six-year period, the project became the largest commissioning campaign in Kent’s history, spanning five concurrent scopes and peaking at over 3,800 personnel.

With a total of 24.5 million work hours completed without a single Lost Time Incident (LTI), the project stands as a benchmark for Kent’s capability in safely managing complexity, accelerating performance under pressure, and building lasting partnerships with local communities.

Scope of Work

Kent was responsible for the end-to-end commissioning of five integrated scopes, including:
• Processing and compression facilities
• Sour gas injection infrastructure
• 110kV power distribution and substations
• Field gathering and pipeline systems
• Utility, control and data centres

Services delivered included:
• Systems completions
• Static and dynamic commissioning
• Start-up support
• Vendor and subcontractor coordination
• Temporary power and utilities
• Personnel training and handover support

Through rapid mobilisation, disciplined execution, and strategic vendor integration, Kent accelerated delivery to support the safe and successful achievement of First Oil in January 2025 – two years ahead of revised forecasts.
