Role scope

The Civil Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all civil construction activities on-site, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and timelines. This role involves coordinating with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to manage site preparation, foundations, concrete works, and structural installations.


Details / responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all civil construction activities including excavation, backfilling, concrete pouring, and structural works.
  • Ensure civil works are executed in accordance with design specifications, codes, and safety standards.
  • Interface with engineering and planning teams to align civil construction schedules with overall project timelines.
  • Track and document daily time-on-tools using IOC tools (e.g. SASBU IODSC), and monitor installation durations versus estimates
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure quality control of civil works.
  • Conduct site inspections and participate in civil-related audits and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure proper documentation and testing of civil materials and installations.
  • Ensuring proper planning, qualified personnel, and safety documentation are in place prior to commencing the work.
  • Support resolution of technical issues and field modifications related to civil scope.
  • Ensure availability of required materials, equipment, and manpower for civil activities.
  • Participate in progress meetings and provide updates on civil construction status.\
  • Promote safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE policies during civil operations.

Qualifications

  • As minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (any discipline)
  • 7-11 years relevant experience
  • Have worked for at least 3 years in similar positions for an international company
  • Work in office and Site based environments
  • Capable of using the appropriate software
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical attributes
  • Able to effectively communicate technical issues to peers and line manager and hold presentations to project management and Clients (written and verbal
  • Capability of collating, verifying and handling project information and producing reports
  • Adequate knowledge and communication skills in project execution and management for own level
  • Adequate analytical mindset for interpreting engineering, procurement, construction and planning information
  • Adequate knowledge of contract administration for own level
  • Good knowledge of processes of constructions
  • Adequate awareness of how to handle risks and mitigation measures across functions
  • Good interpersonal and analytical attributes
  • Ownership of responsibility for work
  • Ability to effectively communicate project issues to peers and line manager and hold presentations to project management and Clients (written and verbal)
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in civil construction within the oil & gas, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale civil works including foundations, concrete structures, and earthworks.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors in a construction environment.
  • Familiarity with construction codes, standards, and quality control procedures.

Communication:

  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

Behavior/ Core Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Effective leadership and coordination skills to manage field teams and subcontractors and interface with Municipal Services Project Coordinator.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills for interfacing with stakeholders.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in construction execution
