The Opportunity:
We are looking for a Lead Designer to join our Brisbane Projects Team. You will join and provide leadership in a high-performing design and engineering and project delivery team. You will work closely with engineering and technical disciplines on an exciting and industry leading project and support our client to deliver this fast-track project.
In this role, you will undertake the following duties:
  • The Lead Designer is responsible for contributing to all aspects of design to meet the technical requirements of Kent and its clients.
  • As a senior member of the design team you will work closely and need to communicate effectively with the Design Team Leader other disciplines, Kent management and client representatives to ensure the company’s reputation for high quality products and services is maintained.
  • All senior roles include responsibility for discipline input to estimates and proposals, and subsequent production of design deliverables within agreed budget and schedule constraints.
  • Perform all work in accordance with the Kent Quality Management System and within agreed project time and schedule constraints.
  • Provide expert advice and assistance to the design team on issues across greenfield and brownfield projects using 2D and 3D tools.
  • Contribution to the professional development of the designers.
  • Responsible for the deliverables produced by the design team including distribution and allocation of work amongst the team and subsequent checking.
  • Develop and maintain awareness of changes in the relevant technology and design tools to ensure Kent is applying best practice for high levels of efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Liaise with the other members of the team and other disciplines to ensure all design requirements are addressed.
  • Liaise with clients engineering, construction and operations personnel to ensure all project requirements have been addressed.
  • Design inputs to BoDs, Scopes of Work, Specifications, Data Sheets and Material Requisitions.
  • Preparation of man-hours and resources for design group.
  • Site investigations for preparation and checking of work scopes.
  • Run model reviews.
  • Development of ‘best-practice’ guidelines for the team in the production of deliverables and inputs for the multidiscipline team members.
  • Administrate the software systems used by the design group where required.
