About the job:

The Head of Projects is a key project management role and will report directly to the Offshore Wind Market Lead. The Head of Projects will generally be accountable for the delivery of a number of Offshore Wind Design, Engineering and Consultancy projects. In some cases, depending on the size, complexity or profile of the project, the Head of Projects would also be the Project Director.

The Head of Projects will have overall accountability for the delivery of projects to the contractual arrangements and the financial outcome in accordance with the agreed financial objectives.

This position can be based in any of our UK offices (Epsom, London, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen. Kent would consider flexible working arrangements. Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and signing off monthly Project Summary Reports (PSR) and approving any actions in respect of the Market Risk Register and contingency
  • Ongoing and active liaisons with clients to resolve issues early and safeguard the interests of the Market
  • Ensuring that the Company’s mandatory procedures are adhered to
  • Ensuring that the Project portfolio has appropriate resources and expertise
  • Agreeing the criteria for appropriate control and management of Projects
  • Managing the Project portfolio performance
  • Assisting the Project portfolio in the resolution of problems
  • Ensuring the Projects are formally advised in good time of senior management decisions that affect the Project
  • Establishing with the Projects a common approach to major issues that arise

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

  • A recognised Project Management qualification (e.g. APM, Prince, PMI etc) is essential
  • A degree-qualified engineering background (ideally chartered with a relevant institution) would be preferred
  • The Head of Projects will have overall accountability for commercial management and delivery of the services in accordance with client agreements.
  • Significant and proven experience as a project manager on large scale projects
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Be able to effectively apply risk assessment, and management principles and processes
  • Effective communication skills – able to negotiate well and influence people, broker relationship with stakeholders within and outside of the projects
  • Be aware of the broader perspective of the company’s interests and how they might affect a project
  • Experience in the Offshore Wind sector would be advantageous
