About the job:

Kent is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our West Houston, TX office.

You will offer knowledge of Electrical design and engineering techniques, as well as CAD and skills. You will plan schedules and budgets and proposals, modifying drawings, specifications, calculations and new approaches to streamline deliverables.

Your responsibilities:

  • Work on medium or large-size engineering projects with minimum supervision.
  • Prepare accurate and complete designs and calculations as required to meet project requirements.
  • Conduct field investigations when needed; produce field reports with detailed sketches.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and assist engineers and/or designers to ensure an effective quality product.
  • Keep up to date on new engineering processes, techniques, and IMS and standards.
  • Investigate and resolve unusual design and field engineering problems by devising new approaches.
  • Ensure that effective methods and design/engineering techniques are used.
  • Resolve project issues and problems.
  • Provide technical guidance to the design team.
  • Collaborate with the design team to maximize design value.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide employee performance feedback to the discipline managers.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Qualification/ Certification:

  • BSEE degree (Preferably from ABET accredited university for Electrical Engineering)
  • P.E. License in the state of Texas is required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience
  • Field experience at client sites (Experience in Texas Gulf Coast - nice to have)
  • Experience with Greenfield & Brownfield plant services
  • Experience with creating and revising Electrical Area Class drawings.
  • LV, MV, and HV experience required
  • Knowledge of transmission line standards
  • Knowledge of Transformers, Switchgear, and Protection Relay standards
  • Knowledge of substation and PDC standards and specification/construction of MCCs
  • Knowledge of NEC and IEC
  • Experience with supporting Electrical Packages
  • Experience with Electrical Package reviews
  • Software experience with SKM preferred
  • Other software experience such as ETAP, AmpCalc or ArcPro is a plus
  • Experience required with Engineering Manhour Estimate tool(s)
  • Knowledge of NEC, IEC & IEEE standards, methods and practices.

Skills Requirement:

  • MS Office (Must be highly proficient in Excel and Word, working knowledge in Access)
  • Basic design and construction knowledge required
  • Familiar with PIP Standards.
