About the Job

Kent is seeking a Document Controller based in Port Arthur, TX to lead the delivery of documents on time between the relevant functions within Kent Engineering and the customer.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Jointly with engineering and quality, negotiate early in the project the Master Document Register as well as the required format & content for key types of documentation (Data Sheets, ASME calculations, Fabrication drawings, Weld maps, Manufacturing Record Books, ITPs, Material Certificates, Traceability requirements, Operation and maintenance manuals etc.)
  2. Act as an interface between internal engineering, quality, manufacturing and document control teams, external suppliers and the client.
  3. Coordinate the storage, review, approval and distribution of documents for a project.
  4. Ensure effective management of the master document register, including engineering drawings, manufacturing data books, materials certificates, reports, etc. throughout the project.
  5. Gain a thorough understanding of client and project document control requirements.
  6. Develop, collate and distribute a suite of document management status reports for the client and project team.
  7. Drive on time document delivery throughout the project.
  8. Help maintain the Electronic Document Management System.
  9. Assist in effective execution of the business document control team where required.
  10. Ensure global standards for document management are adhered to.
  11. Identify improvement opportunities and work with the Document Control Supervisor and project teams to implement improvements.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Preferred Education and Relevant Experience/Training:

High school diploma plus five years of directly related experience in a similar setting where technical experience and competence has been clearly demonstrated.

Experience with engineering and/or construction of plant equipment desirable.

Technical Knowledge & Skills

Extensive knowledge of engineering, procurement and construction activities.

Must have an in-depth understanding of company policies, practices and procedures.

Experienced in developing logical sequencing of work.

Computer Skills

Experience using an industry proven document storage, tracking and transmitting software required.

MS Office (Excel and Word) and product competency required.


Full fluency in English required.
