About the job:

Kent is looking for an Automation & Controls DCS Specialist/DCS Programmer.

Your responsibilities:

• Recommend and implement improvement to Emerson Delta-V Distributed Control Systems within the owners facility
• Maintains the DCS software, hardware, logic, and other administrative needs
• Oversees the design, maintenance, and documentation required for the DCS system
• Maintains the DCS system integrity
• Manages operational changes for the DCS under both PCS and SIS systems as well as serial communication between third party PLC’s and the DCS
• Perform serial interface tests and bitmapping tests to ensure all data is mapped correctly on both the master and slave device
• Participate in FAT’s, SAT’s, SIFT and Alarm Rationalization sessions
• DCS and field PLC commissioning; verification of all I/O and equipment functionality
• Detailed control narrative and logic testing
• Program new or modified control system logic based on project requirements and as authorized by the Engineer of Record
• Operations support for a live plant, including troubleshooting and correcting issues during time sensitive events (unplanned outages, process upsets, etc.)
• Download required logic modifications and updates to running control systems without any equipment shutdown or outages
• Perform optimizations of existing logic to improve the process control to either reduce issues/interrupts or improve production
• HMI commissioning; verification of all I/O appears on HMI as required, including alarms and event notifications
• Alarm rationalization services, reducing nuisance alarms or distractions to ensure that operations are provided with the correct alarms as required so they can respond effectively to the correct event
• Design of new or modified HMI screens as required by the project

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Qualification/ Certification:

• Experience in both SIS and PCS is required
• Working knowledge of Emerson Delta-V (CHARMS and Conventional Series) required
• P.Eng/P.L. (ENG)/C.E.T. preferred
• Working knowledge of Honeywell Experion, TDC 3000 DCS programming is an added asset

Skills Requirement:

• HMI graphics Development (static and dynamic)
• Experience with PI database updates/development
• Experience in Alarm Management Database development and updating
• Experience reviewing and implementation of Control Narratives and C&E’s / SDK’s
• Familiarity with Serial communication through Ethernet TCP/IP and Modbus TCP/IP
• Able to work in a team environment
