About the job:

Kent is seeking a USA FEED Director to lead FEED engineering and FEED project delivery efforts and to substantially grow our FEED capabilities and our portfolio of FEED projects.

This role will work closely with Engineering, Project Management, and Business Development and will report to the VP Projects USA. This is a high profile, high visibility position with P/L accountability of the FEED project portfolio which is a subset of the Kent USA Project’s business. Addressable markets include conventional energy and low carbon (e.g. petrochemical, refining, plastics, etc.).

The role is based in Houston, TX.

Your responsibilities:

Assess
  • Assess FEED opportunities in the USA market and identify short term and medium-term targets.
  • Assess current FEED capabilities in both engineering execution and project delivery.
  • Provide gap analysis and business case for growth of FEED capabilities (engineering and project management).
  • Continuously assess FEED engineering capabilities and adjust by providing feedback to engineering discipline leads and engineering department managers as required.
  • Continuously assess project delivery capabilities and adjust by providing feedback to project managers and project controls as required.
Support and Grow
  • Collaborate with business development and proposal teams for FEED enquiries:
  • Meet with potential clients.
  • Assist in presentation preparation.
  • Review ITB (invitation to bid) documents submitted in the proposal stage and prepare and / or review workhour estimates.
  • Provide input to project execution plan.
  • Support project managers in leading teams of multi-discipline engineers to deliver FEED projects and interface with clients as necessary.
  • Support multi-discipline engineering teams in delivery of FEED design and deliverables:
  • Drive quality and schedule.
  • Monitor engineering progress.
  • Participate in design reviews and resolve design challenges.
  • Develop recovery plans if needed.
  • Ensure compatibility and conformance with client specifications.
  • Project manage FEED projects.
  • Collaborate with Kent’s SME network and integrate our Global Engineering Centers to deliver differentiated and competitive propositions to our clients.
  • Identify and lead training for successful FEED delivery (e.g. for engineering teams, project managers, project controls, business development).

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Qualification / Certification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant FEED and detailed design projects experience.
  • A demonstrable network of client relationships and the ability to attract talented technical resources.
  • Broad knowledge of engineering discipline activities.
  • Project management, project engineering, or engineering lead experience required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of international equipment specifications and codes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety and quality procedures.
  • Ability to plan project execution interfaces and take corrective action with regards to engineering design.
  • Strong track record of experience successfully delivering for engineering and / or client organizations in the oil and gas and low carbon industry.
Skills Requirement:
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to perform duties with little direct supervision.
  • Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills and be capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills and ability to resolve technically challenging issues with support from discipline engineers.

Communication:
  • Effective communication skills particularly with clients and senior management demonstrating a people-forward and business-minded proactive approach.
