About the job:

The Telecom Specialist/Engineer’s duties will be assigned by the Engineering Manager and ranging from a comprehensive range of engineering, procurement, and construction support services in oil and gas. While at times leading projects independently (depending on Service orders) the role will also require them to also work as part of an integrated team with Electrical and I&C Engineers. This position is office based for Engineering Services with periodic site visits as deemed necessary by the project.

Your responsibilities:

As a member of the team, they shall be responsible for preparing engineering Design Philosophies, specifications and engineering design packages (wiring diagrams, device location layouts, schematics, block diagrams, calculations, data sheets, cabinet layouts, cable schedules, bills of materials, Material Requisitions, Bid Evaluations, etc.) for various telecommunication systems along with working with our High Value Engineering Center (HVEC) on project specific assignments. In addition, they will assist the Engineering Manager in developing, approving, and coordinating work schedules to ensure cost, quality and time objectives are met.

Suitable candidate must have experience with the following systems from an Oil and Gas or Mining project Engineering Perspective;

Fibre Optic Networks
Structured Cabling
Telecom Equipment/Cabinets Design and Layout
Closed Circuit Television Systems (CCTV)
Security and Access Control Systems
Public Address & General Alarm System (PAGA)
BLAN/VOIP and LAN/WLAN

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

A minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role from an Engineering (EPC) environment

Skills Requirement:

Experience leading projects within Telecoms Engineering in Oil and Gas or Mining projects.
Degree in Telecommunication Systems from an accredited University or College – Or equivalent industry experience.
Demonstrated engineering design experience in an Oil & Gas or mining facility.
Have current knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and codes
Proven track record of successful projects.
Highly motivated and organized.
Solid verbal and written communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients on a technical and interpersonal level
Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Eligibility for membership in APEGA would be considered an Asset.
