About the job:

Kent is looking for a Tax Manager (local national) to be based in Iraq (MUST be a current resident)

Skills and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tax Manager to oversee our Iraq tax compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Iraqi tax laws and regulations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to provide strategic tax planning. You will work closely with the finance team in UAE and Finance Manager in Iraq to ensure compliance and optimize our tax position.

• Corporate Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of all tax returns (corporate, withholding tax, etc.) in compliance with Iraqi tax laws.
• Payroll Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of all tax returns (social security, PIT, etc.) in compliance with Iraqi tax laws for in excess of 500 employees
• Tax Planning: Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with local regulations.
• Advisory Services: Provide tax advice to internal stakeholders and assist in decision-making regarding business operations, proposals, investments, and contracts.
• Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors and tax authorities during tax audits and inquiries.
• Research: Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the company’s operations.
• Local financial statements: Prepare and submit local financial statements to the authorities in accordance with Iraq Uniform Accounting Standards and lead local Iraqi audit
• Reporting: Prepare and present tax reports and analyses to senior management.
• Service providers: Conduct an in-depth review of the current Company service providers in country and develop a plan to allow for much of the routine services to be performed by Company in-house and capitalise on potential savings
• Legal / Company secretarial filings: Ensuring company is fully compliant from a legal perspective
• Entities: Responsible for 2 Iraqi entities: Kent Gulf Holdings Ltd Iraq Branch and SNC-Lavalin Ltd Iraq Branch

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

• Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: 10+ years’ experience in a senior finance leadership role in Iraq preferably in the Construction / O&G or tax /audit fields.
• Qualified Iraqi tax accountant preferably registered with the Iraqi Accountants and Auditors Syndicate
• Communication:
• Fluent in English and Arabic.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Behavior/ Core Competencies:
• Excellent mathematical skills; management experience; integrity; honesty; understanding of data privacy standards.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
• Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Proven experience working in multinational organizations with a matrix reporting structure.
• Strong experience in financial planning, analysis, and business partnering, with a track record of driving business performance.
