About the job:


Sr. Electrical Designer based out of Baytown, TX. Lead technical (but not administrative) direction of design work accordingly. Reviews and checks the work of less experienced designers. Responsible for the progress and technical quality of drawings and designs produced by assigned organizational resources.



Essential Job Functions:

· May serve as the lead designer on a large and/or technically complex project planning and technically supervising design activities with responsibility for the complete design of a major component or system of a project or may serve in an individual contributor role as a technical expert planning, scheduling and completing broadly defined and/or technically complex design assignments.

· Develops, plans, evaluates and recommends solutions for difficult and/or complex problems.

· Prepares all types of designs, layouts, basic plans, studies and/or calculations in conformance with applicable codes and design standards from preliminary sketches, diagrams and other information.

  • Frequently required to exercise independent judgment on design procedures and courses of action to be pursued in order to efficiently produce a satisfactory finished design.
  • Expected to explore and regularly suggest new approaches and concepts in design of components with the objective of producing better designs at a lower cost.
  • Provides technical guidance, instruction and direction to others in area(s) of expertise.
  • Prepares and checks lists of materials or specifications utilizing knowledge and/or engineering practices and fundamentals, shop and erection practices, etc.
  • Checks own work for practicality from the standpoint of fabrication, installation or maintenance.
  • Plans work and meets deadlines without supervisor action.
  • May serve as a technical expert, developing drawings, designs and creative solutions, planning, scheduling and completing broadly defined and/or technically complex design assignments. Technically supervises a team of designers and drafters assigned to a project.
  • Provides advice and assistance to others in areas of expertise.
  • Checks work of other designers for accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Skills Requirements: Responds to both internal and external requests for service and assistance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Plans, organizes and coordinates own work to produce timely, accurate, high quality results.
  • Develops and implements cost saving measures.
  • Understands business implications of decisions.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities.
  • Aligns work with strategic goals, while exhibiting sound and accurate judgment.

Qualifications


· Must possess a good working knowledge of 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CAD).

· Fully competent and knowledgeable about design/drafting principles and practices with extensive and comprehensive knowledge in area(s) of specialization and of the design of the organization’s technologies in general.

· Work requires a strong understanding of how design integrates into and impacts the complete project. 10+ years of design/drafting experience.
