About the job:

Kent is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Aberdeen Structures Team within our UK Consulting business. Our Aberdeen Structures Team provides a broad range of services across our Oil & Gas and Offshore Wind markets. We are the ‘go to’ company for complex problems in design, engineering, integrity management, structural analysis, life extension, and ultimately decommissioning.

Our structural teams work on some of the most exciting and varied projects in the offshore sector. This role provides opportunities to work across our structural offshore services, including integrity, design, analysis and decommissioning. Flexibility is key, with a varied work pipeline across our Oil & Gas and Offshore Wind markets. This is a fantastic opportunity to broaden horizons and engage with local clients, while enhancing current skillsets.

Skills & Responsibilities:

  • This isa broad-rangingrole across Oil& Gasand OffshoreWind projects. Responsibilities mayinclude:
    • Leading structural analysis, including linear and non-linear analyses, to support design in Oil & Gas and Offshore Wind projects.
    • Leading design calculations; preparing inspection workbooks; conducting anomaly reviews; developing risk-based inspection strategies; and contributing to life extension studies.
    • Leading all phases of offshore decommissioning, from early concept development through to detailed engineering for removals.
  • Plan, develop,execute, andreport oncomplex analysismodels usinga rangeof industry-standard analysis software.
  • Guide andmentor juniorengineers,supporting theirtechnical andprofessional development.
  • Undertakeboth assessmentof existingoffshore assetsand newdesign projects, depending onbusiness needs; work will range from hand calculations to linear and non-linear finite element analysis.
  • Collaboratewith colleagues to identify, develop, and implement new technical methodologies.
  • Build,communicate, andmaintain effectiveclient relationships, including leading client facing conversations and delivering presentations of project work.
  • Managepersonal costand timetargets todeliver anefficient, high-quality engineering service.
  • Prepareclear, concise,high-quality technicalreports.
  • Work withinhighly experienced,multi-disciplinary teamsto execute projects successfully.
  • Developtechnical andprofessional capabilitiesin linewith Kentcareer pathways.
  • Work aspart of anintegrated team, ensuring client interaction andproject delivery from multiple locations.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

  • Engineering degree with honors or equivalent in Civil, Mechanical, orStructural engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
  • Ideally Chartered (ICE, IMechE, IStructE etc), or actively working towards chartership.
  • Knowledge ofoffshore structural engineering andrelevant offshore design codes.
  • Demonstrable experience of core competence for Senior Engineer level in at least one area for offshore structures (Oil & Gas and/or Offshore Wind):
  • 1) structural integrity management 2) structural analysis 3)structural design 4) decommissioning.

Communication:

  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.

  • Adaptability and the ability to effectively manage and prioritise multiple demands.
  • An inquisitive attitude and the drive to identify and pursue areas for improvement.
  • Ability to handle multiplefast-paced requests, balancing the need for high qualitywith the need to meet time and cost constraints.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Well-organised and methodical approach to project work.
  • Experience working in accordance with structural engineering design codes and standards, with the ability to develop robust solutions from first principles based on a strong theoretical understanding.
