About the job: The successful candidate will report to the Electrical Discipline Manager and will be assigned to various projects associated with Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals industry as directed by the Project Management group.
The candidate will possess a solid understanding of electrical power systems design principles complemented by practical working experience with industrial power distribution systems within Oil and Gas processing facilities. The candidate is required to be a well-organized and an effective communicator. The candidate will be able to work independently, lead a small team of professionals (engineers and designers) and be effective when working in a team environment.
Roles and Responsibilities
Experience in planning and design of electricaldistribution systems in a project teamenvironmentwith focus on power system studies, Front End (FEED)design, detailed design for new plants (or) modifications/replacements of existing equipment in process plants.
Proficient in engineering theories and principles
Proficient in developing LV & MV Single Line Diagrams with strong knowledge of Relay & Metering systems
Proficient in electrical power system modelling using ETAP software.
Proficient in conducting electrical power system studies (Load Flow, Short Circuit, Motor Starting, Arc Flash, Harmonic studies, relay coordination and Grounding study) using ETAP software.
Proficient in power system analysis of the study results and performance assessment for finalizing the design.
Proficient in developing/coordinating protective relays, TCC settings and associated logics (GE F35, T60, C60 and Multilin relays).
Proficient in developing settings for MV & LV Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).
Proficient in load calculations and electrical equipment sizing
Knowledge of electrical Interfacing with DCS, SCADA, PLC etc.
Proficient in the selection of HV/LV and outdoor / indoor Substation Equipment.
Knowledge of Battery/ UPS systems
Proficient in motor protection and control schematics / wiring diagrams
Experience in reviewing vendor designs for compliance with Technical Specifications
Proficient in Electrical equipment specifications, data sheets and purchasing requisition.
Good understanding of Area Classification Drawings and studies
Monitoring and updating electrical manhours and schedule progress on assigned projects.
Establishing scope of work for projects / proposals and developing engineering deliverable lists
Excellent writing skills to produce study reports, scope documents and presentation materials
Attending project team meetings, client meetings & vendor review meetings
Experience in providing engineering support during the commissioning of electrical equipment, relays and VFDs.
Reviewing designs for constructability in accordance with project requirements.
A degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution
Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with APEGA
A minimum of 15 years' experience in electrical studies for power distribution systems in Oil & Gas Facilities.
Proficient in ETAP power system software.
Strong client focus; able to represent the company in a professional manner when communicating with clients and visiting client sites
Experience in oil sands projects will be considered an asset.
Works with minimal supervision, manages own time effectively, maintain control over all current projects/responsibilities.
Knowledge of domestic and international codes (CEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, API, NEMA, etc.)
Demonstrate a high regard for safety policies and procedures
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
