OVERVIEW

The Mechanical Engineer shall have experience in Oil & Gas, refinery, and chemicals projects along with effective communication skills.

The Mechanical Engineer shall have versed experience in different type of packages and static equipment in general. Experience in Presser Vessel, Heat Exchangers, Tank, Boiler, and Packages which include multi discipline scope. Experience in Carbon capture, Green Energy Hydrogen/ Energy Transition project/s will be added value.

The Mechanical Engineer will have direct responsibility of mechanical deliverables, supporting the project as a mechanical lead or supporting a mechanical lead, coordinate with other engineering disciplines, client and supplier.

The candidate shall be an integral part of the Mechanical Department Team within ongoing projects and will partake in new prospective project development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS:
  • Experience working in Concept Design (PDB), FEED engineering and Detail Design in oil and gas industry.
  • Technical expertise and extensive knowledge of static equipment design principles, package systems, codes and industry best practices to ensure compliance with and the production of high-quality engineering deliverables.
  • Must have good/sound technical knowledge/capability in the Mechanical Engineering field with particular emphasis on static equipment design, FEA and CFD Analysis, while also having had significant exposure to providing a lead role in multi-discipline engineering projects.
  • Must have signification experience Petrochemical, Refining and in the Oil and Gas Industry
  • Applying Client Standards, Statutory Codes and Standards: Proficient in Industry recognized Static Equipment Standards and Guidelines (ASME, API, etc.).
  • Demonstrate capability in the preparation of Mechanical Data Sheets (MDS), Enquiry Specifications for Static Equipment.
  • Experienced in feasibility studies including preliminary plant equipment. Sizing and plant layout.
  • Working experience in the design/engineering of pressure vessel, tank, heat exchangers, re-boilers.
  • Evaluation of technical offers received against the enquiries. Technical discussions with the vendors. Preparation of Technical Bid analysis.
  • Preparation of work Document Delivery Schedule and Updating of the same for the progress reporting to Project Manager.
  • Risk Assessment and Safety: Identify potential hazards and risks associated with static equipment and package systems and develop risk mitigation strategies to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Experience working as Mechanical sub-lead/lead on project is a requirements and must be demonstrated.
  • Experience in sustainable/improvement/production project is beneficial.
  • Estimation of man-hours and other activities related to any new work/proposal preparation is considered and asset.
CRITICAL SUCCESS COMPETENCIES
  • Interface engineering/ coordination for multidisciplinary issues belongs to Mechanical scope.
  • General understanding of civil, electrical, I&C and piping design requirement with respect to mechanical equipment interface
  • Willing to travel to site and vendor shop as per project needs and requirement.
  • Must demonstrated communication and organizational skill.
  • Strong team player and ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Ability to provide leadership and stewardship to mechanical and multidiscipline design teams.
  • Self-motivated & goal-oriented
  • Ability to work and perform tasks independently with minimum supervision and guidance.
  • Ability to work on multiple project deadlines simultaneously, manage priorities.
  • Adaptable to fluctuating hours and workload, driven by project needs.
  • Adopting a flexible and open approach towards the needs of projects.
EDUCATION SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Recognized Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University
  • Registered / or be able to register as a Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario. Registration in Alberta is also an asset
  • Minimum of 15-20 years’ experience in Petrochemical, Refining and Oil & Gas Industry.
  • Proficient with MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Report writing, Communication, and project control reporting.
