About the job:

Kent is looking for a Principal Proposals Engineer to be based in Woking, who will be responsible for writing and coordinating the technical content of bids and proposals for Studies, Pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design projects. The successful candidate will be supporting the UK Engineering and Projects Leadership Team, working in collaboration with our Proposals team to generate high quality technical content, and co-ordinate the inputs from the Engineering Disciplines and Engineering Management into Bids and Proposals for clients.

The Principal Proposals Engineer will report to our Group Manager Project Engineering Management and our UK Engineering Proposals Lead.

The UK Engineering group supports a variety of interesting and challenging opportunities in Low Carbon/ Energy Transition (CCUS, Green Hydrogen, Blue Hydrogen, Offshore Wind, Waste to X, Emissions Reduction) as well as responsibly developing traditional international energy projects. Being confidently hands on particularly as we grow, collaborative (including international workshare and teamworking) and committed to a long-term career within a high performing and close team are some of the key qualities we are seeking.

We operate a hybrid working model with a mix of office and home working, for our team to develop an effective team dynamic within Engineering.

Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the technical input into Bids and Proposals, working closely with the Engineering Management Team, and the Global Proposals Function.
  • Participates in the planning and scheduling of the Engineering & Technical inputs into our Bids and Proposals
  • Monitors the inputs, checks for consistency and accuracy of the work, and maintains strong communication with the key stakeholders in the overall process.
  • Elicits participation of the engineering team members in delivering their respective work scopes and anticipates and resolves any issues arising out of the same.
  • Has the ability to also write the technical bids with support from others. Some previous experience is beneficial and the willingness to learn is a requirement.
  • Ensures compliance with Kent’s ISO Quality procedures, Project Quality Plan and Design Integrity processes and procedures. Complying with other Kent accredited frameworks such as ISO14001.
  • Performs related duties as and when instructed by Direct Supervisor.
  • Coordinating with Project Engineering Managers for their technical input and feedback.
  • Coordinates the production of the technical inputs for Bids and Proposal across the full range of the project lifecycle. Coordinates input from multiple offices, engineering disciplines, procurement, project controls and third parties.
  • Manages and plans own work. Decisions limited to that delegated by Direct Supervisor.
  • Duties essentially performed in Main Office. Time spent in planning, coordination, and attending meetings. Required to travel to other Kent offices, Client’s offices, and attend site visits as necessary, in accordance with corporate or prospective project requirements.
  • Our team will be expected to be in the office nominally 3 days a week to help build that positive team culture.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Masters Degree in Engineering. (preferred).
  • Higher Level Education and Experience in an Engineering or Engineering Project Management Discipline.
  • Chartered Status preferred. Related experience working for Engineering/Client organisations in the Oil and Gas Industry and/or Low Carbon Energy Transition industry.
  • Experience of FEED/ Detailed Design and EPC projects.
  • Knowledge of other engineering disciplines.
  • Knowledge of international equipment specifications and codes.
  • Knowledge of standard international specifications and codes.
  • Knowledge of Safety and Quality procedures.
  • Global work share experience.
