About the Opportunity

Kent have an exciting and challenging opportunity for an Offshore Structural Engineer to be Perth based but part of the global team which is spread across all major regions to deliver on our ongoing consultancy contracts to the major Oil & Gas and Future Energy Operators in Australia, APAC and globally.


The Structural Engineer is required to contribute to all aspects of structural integrity management, assessment, design and analysis to meet the technical competency expectations of Kent and its clients.


As a member of the structural team you will work closely and need to communicate effectively with the global subject matter experts, other disciplines, Kent management and client representatives to ensure the company’s reputation for high quality products and services is maintained.


Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all calculations and analysis work are prepared in accordance with the Kent Quality Management System.
  • The provision of highly professional services tailored to meet the needs of our clients.
  • Contribution as required to bids, proposals and client.
  • The delivery of structural engineering design and assessment in accordance with relevant industry codes and standards, whilst meeting best engineering practice.
  • Participate as structural engineer in studies using a strong fundamental base of physics, mathematics, problem solving logic and strong communication.
  • Review and interpret engineering and inspection reports, workpacks and drawings in relation to structural integrity management.
  • Perform structural and weight engineering studies.
  • Completion of specifically assigned tasks to time and cost
  • Liaise with the other disciplines, clients engineering and production personnel to ensure consistent basis for all input parameters.


Education and Skills

  • Degree in Structural / Civil / Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture
  • Ideally hold membership with a recognised professional body.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience within the energy resources industry
  • Experience in offshore structural engineering , in particular structural analysis and structural integrity management.
  • Sound understanding of structural behaviour and applied mechanics.
  • Developing increased technical competence.
  • Developing competence to check the work of other team members
  • Experience with industry standard structural analysis and design software, such as SESAM, SpaceGass, SACS etc.
  • Experience with industry standard advanced FEA software such as Abaqus, ANSYS etc
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards in Oil & Gas industry in particular ISO, API and AS.
  • Familiar with project execution and regulatory issues.
  • Familiar with commercial aspects of project management to ensure studies and projects are delivered within agreed budgets and schedules.
  • The role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidiscipline team with strong interpersonal and team building skills.
