About the Job

The Motor Repair Technician will be responsible for the analysis and interpretation of engineering drawings, as well as the diagnosis and troubleshooting of systems as required. Duties will also encompass traceability measurement, proper documentation for quality assurance purposes and maintaining instrument calibration, supervising motor repairs aligned with project specifications.

Reports to Regional Manager:

1) Support the project team through:

a. Reading and interpreting electrical diagram and schematics

b. Coordination and supervision of work done by external vendors as per standard

c. Providing time and material cost estimates

2) Other responsibilities can be included such as:

a. Advising management regarding unsuitable/obsolete equipment and recommending improvements

b. Calibration of instruments and diagnosis of faulty equipment

3) Job Location:

a. The nature of this job designation will require the successful candidate to be situated in both Trinidad and Guyana based upon the requirements of the scope of work. Candidate shall therefore be flexible and willing to be lodged in Guyana for any specified timeframe as required by Company.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Motor Repair Technician responsibilities are as follows:

· Read, analyze and interpret engineering drawings based on in-depth knowledge of electrical engineering

· Ensure adherence to relevant standards in explosion protection

· Carry our maintenance, diagnosis and repair of electrical, automation and instrumentation of equipment

· Inspect, analyze and troubleshoot systems and equipment

· Inspect and supervise work done by external vendors

· Prepare detailed reports and documentation for quality assurance purposes, including the principles of auditing

· Maintain up to date equipment logs to ensure traceability measurement and instrument calibration

· Read repair manuals and liaising with other professionals as required

· Provide time and material cost estimates before starting a job

· Keep abreast of advancements in the field of electrical engineering and explosive protection principles and techniques


The successful candidate will have 5 years’ experience working on EX rated motor repairs and rewinds or Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent degree from a Technical College and a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the construction/oil and gas/manufacturing industry.

In addition, they will have:

Any electrical certification or apprenticeship would be an asset

IECEX certification would be an asset

Valid US Visa would be an asset

Ability to explain problems simply and clearly

Excellent mathematical and problem-solving skills

Proficient in Basic Engineering software

Solid knowledge of electrical practices and theory

Solid knowledge of practices and principles of system troubleshooting, calibration methods and standards, schematics

Practical understanding of explosion protection principles and techniques
