About the Job:

The role of the Lead Project Process (Petroleum) Engineer is to manage the Process Engineering team through the multiple stages of an Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) project. The Lead Project Process (Petroleum) Engineer will be required to support the proposals teams when bidding for work and subject to awarded, will transition to the project team for delivery of scope. The role will stay involved with the project through all phases to include FEED, detailed design, fabrication & procurement engineering and provision of support to the construction and commissioning teams at site. The Lead Project Process (Petroleum) Engineer will need to visit various engineering centers, fabrications facilities and the construction site.

Day to day, the primary responsibility of the Lead Project Process (Petroleum) Engineer is to ensure that all technical documentation is executed in accordance with the project requirement for quality, while respecting the pre-established constraints for budget (capital and services costs) and schedule. Maintain an ongoing working relationship with the other Lead Discipline Engineers, the Area Managers, and with the key procurement, controls, and construction team members.

The Lead Project Process (Petroleum) Engineer, while engaged on a project, will report to the Engineering Manager, and will have Discipline Engineers, Technicians and Draft-persons reporting to them. At all other times, the position will report to the Engineering and Consulting (E&C) functional lead.

Your Responsibilities:

  • The Lead Discipline Engineer has the responsibility and commensurate authority to accomplish the following duties:To plan and direct the mobilisation and demobilisation of the discipline personnel for a project to ensure that suitable qualified engineers, technicians and draftspersons will be available as and when required.
  • To prepare a list of engineering deliverables for the discipline (coded in such a way that they can be sorted by discipline, facility or work package) and indicating the hours required per document, to permit the planning and control of the engineering budget and schedule.
  • To coordinate delivery of all technical documentation required for the execution of the Project.
  • To manage and coordinate the progress of the discipline engineering work in accordance with the project scope, schedule and procedures.
  • To review shop drawings to ensure conformity with engineering designs.
  • After the award of contracts and purchase orders, monitor the fabrication and construction work to ensure that it is executed in accordance with the engineering design.
  • Control of Engineering Budgets and Schedules, measure, on a monthly basis, the progress of the discipline engineering work packages, to ensure that the budgets and schedules are being met. If necessary, take corrective action.
  • To ensure that the quality audits of engineering work are carried out in accordance with the Project Instructions and the quality assurance plan.
  • To ensure that the checking of documentation and interdisciplinary coordination is carried out in accordance with the Project Instructions.
  • To establish and maintain a climate favourable to the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of the discipline engineering work.
  • To train and aid the project’s process engineering team in their personal development if applicable.
  • To maintain a close working relationship with the Area Managers to ensure direct, rapid and efficient communications on all technical aspects of the project.
  • To maintain a functional relationships.
  • Prepares a draft monthly discipline engineering progress report for incorporation into the engineering monthly report.
  • Performance shall be measured in relation to predetermined standards, agreed upon with the Engineering Manager at the beginning of each year.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience

Qualification/ Certification:

  • Degree in Process engineering.
  • Tertiary qualification and/or relevant industry experience in a leadership role.

Skills Requirement:

  • 10+ years in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Must have experience with the delivery of downstream chemical projects, Ammonia, Methanol, Hydrogen
  • Must have experience in the delivery of EPC, EPCm and PMC projects
  • Must have experience in working with offshore engineering teams
  • Values in accordance with the Kent Value Set
  • Inherent ability to develop effective cross functional working relationships at a local and group level
  • Applied technical knowledge of the upstream oil & gas industry including whole of asset lifecycle experience

  • 5+ years in Senior and Lead roles
  • Highly professional manner with a positive and polite demeanour
  • Business development and proposal experience
  • Business leadership capability and / or potential, including working knowledge of management systems and practices
