Skills and Responsibilities: |
- Provides project discipline engineering support on project teams towards the successful completion of projects as assigned so that they are successfully completed and meet the objectives.
- Works with design resources both internally and externally to achieve designs that are cost effective and technically sound so that all projects are designed efficiently, cost effectively, and have operability against the up-front project objectives.
- Collaborates and engages all other disciplines, process operators and engineers, control systems engineer, and the operations/maintenance superintendents either internally or externally towards the successful completion of the project.
- Responsible for following the Capital project process and meeting the Delegation of Authority (DOA) policy so that all projects can meet internal and external audit criteria and the sites remain in DOA compliance. Working through the Capital Project Checklist and documenting all phases of the project process.
- Works closely with subcontract engineers and/or designers to coordinate their activities and to ensure the subcontractor's work is checked and the standards and quality are in accordance with standards, guidelines, and customer requirements.
- Prepares or reviews/approves specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
- Performs periodic design reviews; ensures designs, including all IEA engineering drawings, technical specifications, calculations and programs, follow specifications, codes, regulations, and contract requirements. Ensures technical and quality standards are maintained.
- Designs, develops and implements new Basic Regulatory and Advanced Process Control applications. Emphasis is on applications utilizing single output control technology as well as providing assistance to the Control Systems Engineer with multi-variable predictive controls.
- Documents and maintains all communication that impacts technical decisions.
- Assists in reviewing estimates of probable costs for construction at various stages of design.
- Participates in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment, technical material suppliers, and technical service providers.
- Consults with peers at the site and across the company.
- Supports SIS Lifecycle for SIS project front-end phases (SIS portion of premise development, Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS) development, design & engineering, installation and validation).
- Provides guidance to and coordinates with SIS contractor for development of or modifications to Safety Requirement Specification (SRS).
- Supports the development of control logic Functional Specifications used to support integration of automation and operator control logic into DCS systems for capital projects.
- Supports the review of the alarm rationalization aspects for capital automation projects.
- Supports the development of procedures for Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Pre-Startup Acceptance Tests (PSAT) of project installed or modified SIS.
- Supports function tests, PSAT, FAT, PSSR and startup activities and ensures proper documentation and data integrity of function testing, FAT, PSAT, red lines, etc.
- All other duties as assigned.

These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: | |
Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
- Twenty (20) years or more of relevant experience in refining, petrochemicals, ammonia facilities, carbon capture and storage, biofuels, gas turbines, cogen and hydrogen facilities.
- P.E. license (preferable in the State of Texas) is required or able to obtain by comity and NCEES license required.
- Require field experience and working knowledge of measurements for level, flow, pressure, temperature, density, and control valves.
- Experience with Analyzers is a plus.
- Experience in the following required; DCS, SIS, ICSS and PLC.
- Technical support in the following required; Cyber Security, Loops and Tuning, Complex Loops, Alarm Management, Historian, Operator Stations, Engineering Stations, Server/Switch Levels and Details, Firewalls, Redundancy Options, Fiber and CAT6 Connections, Local/Remote I/O, Hardwired/Wireless I/O, RIE, Traditional Marshalling, Electronic Marshalling, HART Configurations, Motor Control Relay Templates, MOV Templates, 3rd Party Serial Connections.
- Documentation support in the following required; Block Diagrams, Network Drawings, System Architecture, Equipment Models and Firmware Compatibility, Specifications, Philosophies, MRQ’s and TBE’s.
- Testing and Inspection experience required in Hardware FAT, Software FAT, Serial Connections, SAT and Commissioning.
- Experience in DCS board operation or maintenance/troubleshooting of process control (Emerson Delta V preferred) and safety instrumented systems (Triconex preferred) a plus.
- Experience with configuration, programming, Honeywell process control systems, computer networking systems and programmable logic controllers is desired.
- Must have or develop basic proficiency in the following areas with the ability to develop into a subject matter expert in particular areas:
- Strong working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)
- Knowledgeable of electrical requirements of industry codes (i.e. IEEE, ISA, and NFPA)
- Broad knowledge of instrument, electrical and analyzer engineering
- Demonstrated ability for organizing and tracking a high volume of detailed information that impacts own work
- Ability to apply computer software tools (SAP, Microsoft Office, Autocad).
