Kent is looking for a Junior Piping/Mechanical Designer to join our Canadian Oil and Gas group.
Reporting to the Department Manager and working with client representatives, this position will be based in our Sarnia, ON office. The role will involve pulling and reviewing site data for a major client and consolidating information essential to Plant Operations.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
A piping/mechanical background is preferred, with at least 2 years practical experience post-graduation from recognized diploma program and the following attributes:
Ability to read Piping and Mechanical drawings (both cad and manual) and extract information from same eg. P&IDs, General Arrangements, Isometrics, Data Sheets, Vendor Prints, Line Lists etc
Possess a basic understanding of oil and gas refining processes and equipment including engineering design and testing parameters. Candidate should be able to identify a variety of process equipment types and be familiar with their attributes.
Ability to occasionally perform field checks and measurements at site to verify drawing content and dimensions
Able to work under supervision and direction of others
Ability to work with large data sets
Ability to self-check and confirm accuracy of vital data
Ability to discern relevant information in a historical document/data set
Ability to learn and grow on the job
Willingness to expand technical knowledge and gain information
MS office skills – Working experience with Excel is essential
Familiarity with electronic document searches/software would be an asset (specific system instruction will be provided)
SPED Level I certification is an asset
Demonstrate a positive, professional attitude and a willingness to be a strong service provider and company representative
Valid Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator’s License to facilitate independent travel to client site
