The Opportunity:

Kent (previously Atkins Oil & Gas business) have an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Senior Offshore Structural Engineer specialising in Structural Integrity Management (SIM). The role is to be Perth based, but part of the global team which is spread across all major regions to deliver on our ongoing consultancy contracts to the major Oil & Gas and Future Energy Operators in Australia, APAC and globally.

As a member of the structural team you will work closely and need to communicate effectively with the global subject matter experts, other disciplines, Kent management and client representatives to ensure the company’s reputation for high quality products and services is maintained.

  • Ensure all deliverables are prepared in accordance with the Kent Quality Management System.
  • Provide highly professional services tailored to meet the needs of our clients.
  • Contribute to bids, proposals, and client queries.
  • Mentor and support junior team members.
  • Review and interpret engineering and inspection reports, work packs, and drawings in relation to structural integrity management.
  • Perform weight engineering studies and maintain weight management databases.
  • Participate as structural engineer in studies using a strong fundamental base of physics, mathematics, problem solving logic and strong communication.
  • Deliver structural engineering design and assessment in accordance with relevant industry codes and standards, whilst meeting best engineering practice.
  • Complete specifically assigned tasks to time and cost.
  • Liaise with the other disciplines, clients engineering and production personnel to ensure consistent basis for all input parameters.

Education and Skills

  • Degree in Structural / Civil / Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture.
  • Ideally hold membership with a recognised professional body.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience within the offshore oil and gas and/or offshore wind industry.
  • Experience in offshore structural engineering, particularly structural integrity management.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards in the offshore industry in particular ISO, API, DNV, and AS.
  • Knowledge of degradation and damage mechanisms of offshore structures and applicable inspection techniques.
  • Familiar with offshore facility operations and the requirements of interfacing engineering disciplines (especially technical safety / risk, mechanical, materials / corrosion, geotechnical, metocean, and naval architecture)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation of workshops and presentations.
  • Familiar with project execution and regulatory issues (particularly the safety case regime).
  • Familiar with commercial aspects of project management to ensure studies and projects are delivered within agreed budgets and schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to check the work of other team members in your areas of expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidiscipline team with strong interpersonal and team building skills.
  • Experience performing structural integrity management activities including risk-based inspection planning, anomaly management, risk assessments, fitness-for-service assessments, maintenance planning, and weight management.
