About the Job:
In this lead role you will help drive the Telecommunications system engineering team to provide brownfield and greenfield engineering in the conventional oil and gas sector (onshore and offshore) and emerging Energy Transition markets. The initial responsibility will be on a large combined onshore/offshore project covering the usual suite of offshore telecommunications equipment and the full system lifecycle from the provision and oversight of telecommunications engineering, procurement, construction, hand over to operations and ongoing support. In addition, with a goal of growing the Telecommunications Team, you will support upcoming opportunities in all Kent business lines (Engineering & Consulting, Projects, Ops & Maintenance and Commissioning/Completions/Start-up).
As a degree qualified engineer (either CPEng or eligible) your experience will cover more than a decade of hands-on experience with the delivery of complex systems. You will likely have had roles in project engineering; system integration and be well versed in systems engineering, configuration management and project controls. You will be well versed in the use of digital modelling and design techniques, from commercial 3D tools to re-purposing of common software applications as team process tools.
You will be able to demonstrate experience with a range of subsystems, including:
• networking, switching and transmission (e.g. microwave, fibre)
• marine, meteorological and oceanographic systems including radar and VTS
• life safety systems including access control, CCTV and PAGA
• digital and analogue radio
• electronic access control and management including virtualisation, firewalls and intrusion detection.
• supporting elements such as power systems, equipment housing & mounting and servers
Working in industries which are highly regulated necessitates comprehensive documentation and quality records. Your history will include planning, developing and delivering work packages requiring a similar level of diligence and scrutiny.
Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience managing teams for similar size and complexity projects.
At Kent we consider all our people and partners as leaders in our approach to safety and sustainability. Your technical and management skills will be matched by your commitment to safety and the awareness of your responsibility to actively foster a team culture where everyone has the opportunity to raise concerns and is empowered to stop work if they feel it is not safe.
