About the job:

The Piping Package Engineer shall have core expertise and interest in Piping and Valve Specifications and Piping Materials and Package management.

  • Development of materials procurement packages for Piping group. Applicant must be experienced conducting the full cycle of materials requisitions, technical bid evaluations and vendor document reviews.
  • Generating new Piping specifications, expand current specifications, creating SDR’s.
  • Generating technical decision records and project decision records as related to Piping engineering.
  • Create, specify and maintain data sheets for Specialty Piping (SP) items. Checking detailed drawings for SP items such as specialty spools in tailings and hydro-transport piping.
  • Provide input to SDLR and maintain VDR’s in a timely manner.
  • Make technical assessments and recommendations of vendor proposals including approving spec deviations from vendors and constructors.
  • Post purchase order placement, review and approve supplier documentation for the related piping components.
  • Liaise with client, other engineering disciplines and Procurement.
  • Checking of Piping MTO’s include sub-components and determining final quantities and shipping locations per the execution strategy.
  • Planning and Execution Progress
  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Must be registered as a Professional Engineer or be eligible to register as a P.Eng. with APEGA
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in detailed engineering environment, preferably in EPCM multi-national companies
  • Canadian experience in conceptual, front-end and detail engineering on various large capital projects in oil & gas including Refinery, Upgrader, Oil Sands Mining and Tailings, and Petro-Chemicals
  • Knowledge of the following codes: B31.1 Power Piping, B31:2 Fuel gas Piping and B31.3 Process Piping, B31.4 Pipeline Transportation Systems for Liquids and Slurries, Z662 and API Codes
  • Detailed knowledge and proven application in all aspects of Piping Materials and Procurement.
  • Keep abreast of latest technology for piping materials and investigate technical acceptability of new products and methods
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel
  • Navisworks experience an asset.
  • Aconex experience an asset.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada at time of application

  • Willingness to learn and work on a variety of tasks within multiple projects.
  • Position requires a “Whatever It Takes” attitude and commitment.
Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, video chat and software systems.

Employee will work primarily from office with periods working from home. Company will provide required equipment to facilitate WFH days.
