About the role:

Minimum of six years demonstrated mechanical engineering / design experience. Responsible for a wide variety of tasks to be completed in a cost effective and time efficient manner. The position may require filling the role of both an individual contributor and a technical lead. The individual shall research, design, analyze, evaluate, and document mechanical equipment to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles. The candidate must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Support process engineers with the selection of materials of construction for piping and equipment.
  2. Prepare hand and/or computer aided mechanical calculations as required.
  3. Prepare and review mechanical equipment engineering specifications.
  4. Prepare and/or review datasheets for mechanical equipment.
  5. Prepare material requisitions for quote (MRQ), technical bid evaluations (TBE), material requisitions for purchase (MRP) and review vendor’s documentation for mechanical equipment.
  6. Prepare/review piping specifications.
  7. Provide mechanical input to line list, specialty items list and equipment list.
  8. Provide assistance for the resolution of engineering and design problems.
  9. Contribute to a team environment by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner.
  10. Works autonomously without direct supervision.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Internal Cross Working Relations:

  • Engineering
  • Procurement

External Working Relations (Outside of Kent PLC)

  • Client Interface as needed per project requirements.
  • Vendors and supplier.

Preferred Education and Relevant Experience/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering plus six years of experience.
  • P.E. licensed desired but not mandatory.
  • Experience with other disciplines and/or construction of oil and gas plant equipment desirable.
  • Experience with mechanical material handling equipment (optical sorting, extruders, silos, conveyors, shakers, hoppers, grinders, etc.) a plus
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills required

Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Familiar with commonly used mechanical engineering standards and codes including but not limited to ASME BPVC, API standards, PIP standards, ASME B31.3 and B31.8 and commonly used mechanical engineering software.
  • Working knowledge of equipment inspection and testing.
  • Working knowledge of vessels, pipe, rotating equipment, material handling equipment
  • Working knowledge of pipe stress analysis, CAESAR II or other, a plus.
  • Basic oil and gas upstream, midstream and downstream knowledge required.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel and Word).
  • Working knowledge of the software applicable to their expertise (e.g. Compress, Caesar II, NozzlePro, HTRI, etc.).
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other design software a plus.

Language Ability:

  • English fluency, second language always a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work under pressure.
  • Possible local and/or overnight travel.
