About the job:

Kent is looking for a Mechanical Engineer supporting Bay City, TX.

Your responsibilities:
  • Act as the Lead Mechanical Engineer on multiple design projects concurrently.
  • Seal documents and drawings as per State of Texas Engineering Requirements.
  • Provide guidance and direction to mechanical designers and perform review of project mechanical design drawings.
  • Oversee and review the work of other mechanical engineers assigned to your projects.
  • Create specifications for engineered equipment for the purpose of obtaining quotations. (Fixed equipment includes vessels, towers, drums, heat exchangers, piping/piping components, furnaces, flares, filters and reactors).
  • Evaluate vendor proposals to determine compliance with specifications and recommend the vendor to supply the equipment.
  • Participate in pre-award, engineering review and pre-inspection meetings with the selected vendor.
  • Witness equipment testing at the vendor shop during manufacturing as necessary.
  • Review vendor data, calculations and drawings submitted for approval and provide feedback to the vendor.
  • Resolve technical issues, answer vendor questions and provide guidance to the vendor as needed to manufacture the equipment necessary for the project(s).
  • Provide support to field construction personnel as the equipment is installed.
  • Interact with Kent personnel and Client engineering and manufacturing personnel including -- process design/ instrumentation/electrical, civil/inspection/applications/design drafting/project engineering/operations/ mechanical/design.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Qualification/ Certification:
  • State of Texas Professional Engineering license is a job requirement. Those licensed in another state may be considered if eligible for a Texas P.E. license through reciprocity.
  • Minimum 10 year’s experience providing mechanical engineering services.
  • Experience in a Refining or Chemical Plant environment preferred. Experience in other related industries may be considered.
  • Experience in mechanical design and analysis of pressure vessels (new and existing) and piping systems is preferred.
  • API 510 experience preferred but not necessary.
  • API 650 Tank experience preferred but not necessary.
Skills Requirement:
  • Mechanical Engineer shall be familiar with industry codes and standards related to their work including calculation methods, (ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, Division 1 and preferably Division 2, along with various API and other ASME Codes and national standards)
