About the job:
Kent is looking for a talented Human Resource Director (HR Director) for the Western Hemisphere (Canada, US, South America) to act as an executive business partner to our EVP of Operations West Region, and other executive leaders based in the West. This role reports centrally to our Chief People Officer also based in Houston.

This role is supported corporately through our Kent Centers of Excellence for Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, HRIS, People Development/Inclusion and Belonging. This role is to set the people strategy to support the Western Hemisphere two lines of business: Projects and Engineering/Consultancy. This role has direct reports in Alberta, Houston, and Colombia supporting
approximately 1,500 employees. There is an enhanced focus on operationalizing our culture, continued integration from our last transaction/merger, along with a heavy emphasis on talent acquisition, on-boarding, retention, and talent development.

Your responsibilities:
  • Formulates partnerships on behalf of the HR function to deliver value-added service to line management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization.
  • Prioritizes a focus on performance data and analysis to drive decision making and improvements.
  • Acts as a champion of change and thriving in our new Kent Culture.
  • Develops implement, and ensures the application of policies, systems and procedures that reflect regional best practice and fully compliant.
  • Adopts measures to ensure the elimination of risk through compliance with federal, state, and local laws and industry regulations in relation to handling employee related issues.
  • Drives Kent’s brand as an “Employer of Choice and a “Great Place to Work”.
  • Develops and implements strategies to retain top talent.
  • Establishment of Kent as a “Learning Organization.”
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Creates and delivers briefings to executives.
  • Supports the organization’s recruitment, interview, selection, and hiring processes.
  • Plans employee benefit, payroll, health, and safety programs.
  • Learning; Engagement; to attract, retain and develop the best talent for Kent.
  • Effectively structures benefits programs to attract and retain top talent.
  • Initiates, oversees and coordinates updating human resource software systems.
  • Suggests appropriate innovative measures for improving performance evaluations and employee engagement.
  • Reports on the impact of Onboarding Excellence specifically with regards to retention and engagement levels.
  • Ensures that we are delivering on our commitments and that the environment being created for our employees is reflective of achieving our commitment of being an employer of choice.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Qualification/ Certification:
  • SHRM qualified or similar is preferred.
  • Must be degreed educated or equivalent qualification, and have at least 15+ years overall HR experience, 10 or more of which at a management level.
Skills Requirement:
  • Number of years post qualification experience: >15 years.
  • Number of years relevant industry experience: 5 years (desirable).
  • Number of years relevant experience in the role: 10 years.

  • Relationship Management.
  • Computer literacy, travel, flexibility, etc.
  • Has proven success working in a multi-cultural international environment that involves a dynamic, rapidly expanding, and fast changing business landscape.

  • Has in depth knowledge of HR best practices, and ability to effectively influence stakeholders at all levels both inside and outside the business.
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal: ability to build strong relationships with, and influence, stakeholders.
  • Is a focused and objectives-driven team player who can effectively prioritize workload.

Communication:
  • Bilingual Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
