About the job:

Kent is looking for an Engineering Projects Director to be based in Woking.

The successful candidate will report to the UK Engineering Managing Director to oversee and govern the delivery of a portfolio of projects working closely with the Engineering Director and Project Controls Director. The role will also line manage Project Directors, Senior Project Managers and the Project Engineering Group as well as being involved in Proposals. The continued successful delivery of our projects meeting HSE, Quality and of course our Contractual / Commercial Budgets is fundamental and given the extent of growth in 2024 and expected further growth in 2025 and beyond this new role is required to take up this focus currently being handled by the UK Engineering Managing Director.

The UK Engineering business delivers a range of large multi-discipline Concept/ Pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design projects. We also support the Kent Projects Business in delivering Detailed Design as part of an EPC project. The UK Engineering group will support a variety of interesting and challenging opportunities in Low Carbon/ Energy Transition (CCUS, Green Hydrogen, Blue Hydrogen, Offshore Wind, Waste to X, Emissions Reduction) as well as responsibly developing traditional international energy projects.

We are seeking high caliber people for this key role with full project lifecycle delivery experience that have talent, enthusiasm and drive to influence and be part of our exciting expansion plans. Being able to pre-empt issues, guide/ govern with best practice in project delivery and whenever required be very hands on with critical issues are some of the key strengths we are seeking. The candidate must have a mindset of being part of a global organization, collaborative (including international workshare and teamworking) and committed to a long-term career within a high performing and close team.

We operate a hybrid working model with a mix of office and home working. For our team to develop an effective team dynamic within Engineering. Kent will support candidates with a relocation within the UK.

Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the delivery of multiple large Concept/ Pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design projects including LLI Procurement.
  • Individual Projects may range in value from $1m to $20m each and Framework Agreements may be circa $100m+.
  • May also be responsible for delivery of the Engineering portion of a Kent EPC Project with a total value over $1 billion as we expect to pull through/ secure projects after delivering the FEED.
  • Provides Leadership in HSSE and QA/ QC across Projects.
  • Supports Project and Corporate Quality Audits where necessary in relation to QA/ QC and HSSE.
  • Allocating and providing Project Management and Engineering Management resources to projects.
  • Regularly and continuously monitors project performance with regards HSE, Quality, Progress, Productivity, Budget, Project Margin, Project Risk and Customer satisfaction.
  • Develops and recruits Project personnel.
  • Provides Operational input and leadership to proposals.
  • Part time Direct strategic projects with key clients.
  • Duties essentially performed in the Main Office. Majority of time allocated to supervision, planning, coordination, attending meetings, critical approvals and maintaining contacts. Required to travel to other Kent offices, Client offices, and attend site visits as necessary, in accordance with corporate or project requirements.
  • Our team will be expected to be in the office nominally 3 days a week to help build that positive team culture.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Degree in Engineering.
  • Significant related project management experience working for Engineering/Client organisations in the Oil and Gas/ Energy Industry.
  • Hand on experience of managing large FEED, Detailed Design and EPC projects.
  • Experience of managing project portfolios/ Framework Agreements.

Communication:

  • Excellent communication skills at Director Level, Project Level and with Senior Clients.

Behaviour/ Core Competencies:

  • Excellent understanding of contract terms & conditions.
  • Thorough knowledge of Safety and Quality procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of planning and project controls.
  • Global work share experience.
