Location: England, UK
Operator: Essar Energy Transition (EET) Hydrogen
Duration: 2025 - ongoing
Scope: Detailed Engineering services

Kent is working with ENKA UK Construction Ltd, a subsidiary of ENKA İnşaat ve Sanayi A.Ş., to deliver detailed engineering for the HPP1 Low Carbon Hydrogen Production Plant at the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. The project is being developed by Essar Energy Transition (EET) Hydrogen (formerly Vertex Hydrogen Ltd) and is a key initiative in the UK’s industrial decarbonisation strategy.

HPP1 is the first large-scale low carbon hydrogen production facility in the UK, forming the core of the HyNet Cluster. With a 350MW production capacity, it is designed to capture approximately 600,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually, equivalent to removing around 250,000 cars from the road. This initiative aligns with the UK Government’s hydrogen strategy, which announced funding for the project in October 2024.

  • Engineering design and execution to develop the full detailed design for the hydrogen production facility.
  • Process integration and optimisation to ensure efficient, low-carbon hydrogen production.
  • Carbon capture integration to achieve the targeted 600,000 tonnes of CO₂ capture per year.
  • Safety, regulatory, and environmental compliance to align with UK government policies and industry standards.
  • Technical and project advisory services to support execution and operational readiness.
